Meet Lillie

What she’s passionate about: helping others, entrepreneurship, inclusion

Lillie

We’re going to Biltmore House in Asheville, North Carolina—ALL OF US. That’s the decision fourth grader Lillie made when she heard that many of her classmates might not be able to afford the upcoming field trip.

As you may have already guessed, Lillie is most known for her tender heart, but also for the sparkle in her eyes and a charm most folks would love to possess. What you may not know is she channels these traits into entrepreneurship.

When Lillie learned about an exciting school trip to the Biltmore House and Science Museum, she wanted to be sure that not only every child in her class, but every child in the entire fourth grade could participate in the experience. So, she started squeezing lemons. Literally. That’s how Lillie’s Lemonade Stand was born. She became a highly anticipated vendor at local high school football games and events.

When asked why she does what she does, she responds in a flash with her contagious smile, saying:

“I want everyone to be included and don’t want anyone to feel left out. I’ll just keep squeezing more lemons.”

Lillie’s goal in life is to help and serve others. After earning more than $3,000 for the field trip, Lillie moved on to her next philanthropic initiatives: raising money for her brother’s school drumline and building publicity around a sick relative’s GoFundMe campaign.

The young leader demonstrates the district’s core values of inclusion and service every day. She knows that by following her passion, developing leadership and setting goals, anything is possible.
